Ipswich Unemployed Action Member Attacked by Security Guards.

Filed under: Government, Ipswich — Andrew Coates @ 11:00 am

Manuel for Job Centre Security.

News just coming in is that a prominent member of Ipswich Unemployed Action was attacked by 3 Security Guards at the Silent Street Job centre. Coz he got a bit stroppy. He managed to escape before the Police came. Details are only now emerging. But he was there because he had an interview.

So it took 3 security guards acting on a charge of “trespassing” to pin down a small working class youth.

What a fucking nightmare the Dole is becoming.

  2. For crying out loud! This is a Labour government that is doing this.

The same Labour government that receives funding from the Trade Unions through the political levy, supposedly to protect the interests of ordinary people.

The same Labour government which at the next general election will claim it is the ONLY party for working class people.

The same Labour government which has allowed the free market to do just what it wants and refuses to punish those responsible for the damage (the bankers and speculators who are still filthy rich, living in big houses, driving flashy cars, kids in private schools etc) while the rest of us lose our jobs and have to deal with the Job Centre cretins.

The same Labour government which has taken us into two wars and lied to us in the process.

Blair was never Labour, but Brown was in the 1980s, when he spent most of his time (rightly) attacking Thatcher, but invites her to Downing Street shortly after being appointed (not elected because none of us had a say in the matter) thereby putting two fingers up at true Labour supporters.

Frank Field and Dennis Skinner are true to Labour’s roots, but the rest of them are nothing but a bunch of two-faced hypocrites. I particularly dislike Tony McNulty (Employment Minister) with his sneering arrogance, who constantly talks about how wonderful the Job Centre is. What a pity, when he loses his seat at the next general election, he won’t have to see it for himself.

Still thinking of voting Labour? Wake up and smell the coffee, forget the scaremongering about the BNP or the Conservatives, I can’t imagine them being any worse than this lot.

  4. Without knowing all the details of the incident, it sounds as though the member of IUA may have a case for assault against the security guards. Here in Edinburgh, it’s Group 4 that provide the security, don’t know if it’s the same in Ipswich?

  5. They are ex-military thugs. I will check out who employs them.

    They are seriously menacing.

  7. Sounds like grounds for common assault against security guards. Problem is that it is their word (all three of them) against his. Worth though asking to see CCTV footage, and if it shows they carried out an unprovoked assault on him, then press charges. That they touched him is grounds for common assault.

I have had this three times.

First time was when I was threatened by a security guard. He then kicked a chair from under me (I was lucky I did not fall over and crack my head), he then offered to take me outside and kick my head in. I kept my cool, lodged a formal complaint, and got him fired.

Second time security guard came over and harassed me when I was using telephones.

Third time a security guard tried to stop me as I walked in the Job Centre. I had an appointment upstairs and just carried on walking and ignored him. What was he going to do, attack me? Had he done so, I would have had him destroyed. I called his bluff, and he backed down.

Security guards are not employed by Job Centre. They are contracted to another agency.

Security guards have to be registered. Not only is it easy to get them sacked, you can also stop them working as security guards.

I had one threaten me from a shopping centre. Second time this had happened with the same security guard. First time, no action by the police. Second time he was stupid enough to do so before witnesses. This time police were helpful, though not initially. Security guard was fired and probably can no longer work as a security guard. Has also had a harassment order served on him by the police. If he comes near me, he is in court.
