Lets Lynch the Landlord!

with 31 comments

A pair of property tycoons have sent eviction letters to over 200 of their tenants claiming housing benefit – and have said they’d rather have eastern Europeans in their homes than people on welfare.

Fergus Wilson, who with wife Judith runs a 1,000+ property empire in Kent, has claimed that the move is a purely financial decision, based on benefit claimants’ ability to pay.

And Mr Wilson has advised those on housing benefits to find a job if they wish to get a house.

The landlord said: “When it comes to money, over half of people on benefits were defaulting on their rent, and when it comes to people who are working, we’ve not had one single person default on one single penny.

More here.

“Rents are going up in line with the price of houses, and housing benefit levels are dropping at the same time.

“Tenants from eastern Europe, places like Poland, have been here a number of years now and have built up a good enough credit rating to rent privately.”

The couple, both former maths teachers, have steadily built up a property portfolio worth around £225 million since starting out in the early ’90s.

  2. I always love it when someone ties a tune to current events, top marks Mr coates as usual.

Feet back on ground now this kind of thing is happening more and more so I cant say im surprized as even though their actions raise a moral argument this is very much the case now the gov have gone and done it.

Channel 4 do seem to be stoking a fight lately don’t they so I guess their be releasing a prison one soon now G4S have screwed up yet again but I bet C4 will probably blame prison scum rather than cost cutting business and to think this company want to run the new proposed max prison. I somehow bet tweeters wont have the bulls to give out their threats to prisoners though, but their again I bet the cowards probably will but only because their behind bars.

Talking benefit street I see smoggy got no praise for his efforts for running a business, no, tweeters would rather concentrate on the bad parts rather than the good one.

The amazing thing is I bet most of those tweets were written by two foot nothings as the street was named so they could go down their like real men and carryout their threats.

Well if theirs any tweeters paying attention I know Brum very well and let me tell you, don’t be fooled as most man carries a gun around that manner and its very far from the most dangerous area their I can tell you so they wont be playing queensbury rules, their just shoot you and leave you bleeding out in the gutter while the whole area let alone the street just shuts their curtains, I sh*t you not as unless the police here a bang, aint no one gonna call them, not unless they want to follow suit.

  5. 1996 onwards occupants housing benefit rule under hammer has DWP set out to in their words close the loophole.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-25675093

Despite DWP claiming it only effects a mere count of people who the media and source highly dispute are going all out to change the regulation by this April.

It seems quite clear the government will go to any length including rewriting laws to exact their attack on the poor to feed the rich and private business with taxpayer money.

As we all know government only support the training for despite titling it local labour market, HIGH STAFF TURNOVER OCCUPATIONS such as warehouse, retail, hospitality yet everyday shops are disappearing from our streets, warehouses around the world on more are adopting fully robotic operations ASKING THE VALUABLE QUESTION

IS IT TIME GOVERNMENT INVEST IN TRAINING FOR REAL JOBS NOT EFFECTED BY TECHNOLOGY SUCH AS I.T, ENGINEERING,ETC ?

    • If any are wondering why im promoting topics such as technology in the workplace, employer skills and the likes in upcoming events its because for me this year will be less about the law in respect to claimant conditions although I will still research the upcoming Universal credit and be more about how on earth we got to this point, what pressures we face and how the world will develop for generations to come.

Why you ask: Well everything your suffering now is of direct result and as a consequence its high time many learnt the following phrase.

“To know where your going you have to know where you have been”.

So its my aim to introduce people to facts not commonly known, understood or even recognised in the public eye by far and large.

This said many topics wont seem per say welfare related but be assured like a pebble in the pond its effects will.

So heres to a brighter future, an informed future.

    • Also very interesting is the matter of local councils failing to keep proper records as far back as1996.

The Local Government Ombudsman can intervene in cases of “failure to keep adequate records”, so Councils could face investigation and even being sued over “maladministration”.

The broth thickens when there are cases of people who have been forced to move, or those cases where tenants have been evicted.

Also note, even if tenants have received Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP), they are not legally obliged to pay this money back. They are entitled to have their original Housing Benefit reinstated – and backdated to 1st April when the wicked Bedroom Tax was first imposed!

      • The BIG question no one is answering yet is “WHEN will the 1996 Bedroom Tax “loophole” be closed” – and by what means will it be closed?

Will it need a change in the law? Will that happen during this current Parliament?

Interestingly, if the Tories lose the next election, then that is the end of the Bedroom Tax for everyone – unless the Labour Party goes back on its pre-election promise to scrap it!

  10. I just wanted to put it out there that these so called property tycoons were themselves in mortgage arrears to the tune of £350,000 a few years ago, it made the news as part of the financial crisis stories affecting various business

So who the fuck are they to chuck the first stone and tarr anybody in receipt of HB (which is a demographic formed substancially of WORKING HOUSEHOLDS) with the same brush because out of 1000 tennents they’ve had problems with less than 1%

I hope when the housing goes tits up again they go into liquidation

  11. “The landlord said: “When it comes to money, over half of people on benefits were defaulting on their rent, and when it comes to people who are working, we’ve not had one single person default on one single penny.”

If he took sense and realised he would see the the reasons, people on benefits are having their throats cut by this government,in the pocket and the media.

the reply he gives is so typical of a daily mail and express quotes, biased one sided and totally ignoring the facts.

    • If experience is anything to go by someone is likely to find themselves being diagnosed by jobcentre plus desk staff too.

      ken

      January 11, 2014 at 3:43 pm

      • That’ll be happening in April or October Ken, when the compulsory engagement with DWP HCPs rolls out and they find that no real HCP with any integrity will do the work. That’ll leave the JC+ staff who will be told that diagnosis and recommendations for taking up treatments are covered by the “all other duties relevant to the post”

This clause in that letter Tobanem posted and also in the DMs guidelines look like someone is creating a divide between the deserving ill and the undeserving ill.

How amazing that a DWP Decision Maker can now decide the origins of disease, illness or disability. My oncologists will be so thrilled,

  15. It has become clear that this war (and make no mistake it is a WAR) the unemployed, disabled and any type of benefit claimant has with the current administrators of the Govt. and DWP will not be any easy one, however keep the fight ongoing as we really are fucking up IDS and his plans to end the welfare state.

I would like to quote Winston Churchill but I don’t think that would be called for since this unelected government only have just less than 17 months left as the ruling party.

  16. As my understanding goes, the Labour Party was created to stand up for people in work and support those who have lost there jobs via the benefits system, until they have secured a new job. Rachel Reeves has now made statements to support people who need help via the benefits system, all her comments are on record and must be honoured should the Labour Party win the next General Election.

Hope I live long enough to see lamp-posts and piano wire back in fashion for our ruling elite.

  18. Fergus Wilson and his charming wife Judith, are the very essence with what’s wrong with society. They should be brought before court and have ALL their money and property taken off them, because lets face it you couldn’t make all that money, if you’ve spent most of your life teaching maths.

  19. surely fergus wilsons comment ” they’d rather have eastern Europeans in their homes than people on welfare.” amounts to racial discrimination under the Equality act 2010 , if i was one of his present tenants and got a eviction notice off of him i would sue him for racial discrimination…………….
