DWP Launches Public Information Tour for Universal Credit.

Hat-tip UK Civil Disobedience.

The DWP, following the Home Office’s “go home” illegals vans, launches a new campaign to bring their message to the public.

Universal Credit is due soon….

Universal Credit is already a success, according to Lord Freud speaking at Warrington where a trial has begun,

We haven’t had anything like the problems that some people have been predicting,” he added. “Some people have asked for advances but it is a minority.

“One of the benefits is it gives many people the chance to get out of the poverty problem of having bits and pieces paid here and there.

“You can never collect enough money to make vital bigger purchases.

“The new system means they can budget more successfully.”

2nd of August, Warrington Guardian.

Meanwhile staff at the DWP tell a different story,

Staff working on the biggest shakeup of the welfare state in its history have described the project as “soul-destroying” and “unbelievably frustrating”, with some saying they are under so much pressure that they can only engage in “firefighting and panic management”.

  1. Good post. It matches my experience. Nick (like the lorry), ps I said to my advisor, who is stressed out, is this a personal vendetta or are you just obeying orders?

  4. No doubt when mr freud needs an advamce before his 10% pay rise lands he just ‘ammends’ his expense sheet for his basic subistance meals at the tax payers subsidised restuarant at the house of lords.

  6. I wonder if IDS gets tweeted bomb threats ?

At least we know he cant blame it on us after claiming we are all lazy and lack a good education, unless of course theirs a spelling mistake and then we are all in for it as what self respecting terrorist would use bad grammar ?

I hope being a terrorist is on this MWA list as i’d love to show them my FOCUS AND DISCIPLINE.

  7. Anyone over look this quote “Some people have asked for advances but it is a minority” – which I am assuming is to mean along-the-lines-of “we have dished out advances in many cases”.

They would otherwise deny such claims.

    • Rightly said and on that note who here is on this UC, are the majority rather than the minority struggling to adjust to the new monthly payment as IDS would have us believe ?

    • Your point is? How else do they get the money to loan out to each and every applicant at high interest rates?

Yes, they make a tidy sum from it all but need the vast capital to loan out before they get their return.

perhaps the dustcart is a good place for ian duncan smith,he might find a job he is good at at last.then everyone will see what a job snob is.
