Emma Harrison Champion for Families.

Saint Emma.

I have ‘inspired millions of people around the world to do something they did not think possible. Now I am Family Champ. Wow! There is a practical reality to taking on this task…

It’s brilliant to receive these sorts of wonderful messages. I am very excited and honoured to be asked to help make real the amazing vision to turn 100,000 ‘never worked’ families into families that are hard working, paying their own debts, living fantastic lives and, what’s more, helping others by taking ownership of their own situation.

Think smart and don’t get burned out. I have spent more than 20 years have always been passionate about helping individuals and families in the most disadvantaged communities  empower themselves, get work, regain ambition and improve both their lives and the lives of those around them.

Now, under this programme, every troubled family will have their own champion able to use every existing exciting resource to help them get going, face up to and sort out their fantastic problems, whether they be parenting challenges, poor health, debt, addiction, dependency, dire poverty,   or lack of motivation. I will tackle the economic recession and the banking crisis. Most importantly, I will involve helping people into meaningful employment to help create brilliant wonderful happy, working families with a new sense of real purpose and an active role in the big society.

Faint heart never won fair maiden.Top Tips: I will do everything in my power to inspire, to change attitudes,  using the power of the personal, to make sure that every bit of the existing government, voluntary and private effort adds up to this single goal of creating wonderful happy, working and caring  families and saving the human race.

I am going to start this initiative by recruiting six brilliant families to work alongside – and will do everything to help them become working families. Some people suffer from being shy but the work we do together will be highlighted in the wonderful media. We will create wider public understanding and knowledge about how fantastic and amazing individuals and smart families across Britain can help themselves and each other. I will also recruit, train and develop an army of dedicated great family champions who will be from really great communities up and down the country- people who are passionate about and capable of helping others.

Please come and join me…

Here.

More drivel Here.

  2. WTF? A4e Emma Harrison has lost the plot.

    1. First point:

I will tackle the economic recession and the banking crisis.

She might be filthy rich or filthy and rich, but she isn’t that rich. Even if she disposed of A4e, she would find it impossible to tackle the economic recession or the banking crisis. She would probably be able to save a sperm bank from economic disaster but in the world of financial banks: investment banks and retail banking, and the like, she is hopeless.

    2. Second point:

I am going to start this initiative by recruiting six brilliant families to work alongside – and will do everything to help them become working families.

    Great, oh wait…

I am very excited and honoured to be asked to help make real the amazing vision to turn 100,000 ‘never worked’ families into families that are hard working

I personally see 6 months is a reasonable time-scale to turn this round. Some families might take years, others maybe 3 months. 6 families at each single moment in time.

So, if she can cope with 6 families every 6 months it will take 8,333 years for her to deal with all of them. In theory. Either most families or herself will be dead before she has the opportunity to sort out .6% of them (yes that is a decimal point – not 6%).

But 50 years isn’t a realistic time-scale either Cameron, most families will be dropping out like flies due to suicide, starving to death etc.

We are heading to civil war next year under this Government. Simple maths. Sorting 100,000 families out is just the tip of the iceberg; and this is extremely unrealistic.

  3. It is no coincidence that this pile of tripe from Harrison follows her recent proclamations on the “fantastic” forthcoming spending cuts in which she received loads of adverse publicity. Her previous statements embarrassed her, but she is now using this statement on her proposals for disadvantaged families as a handy means of reflating her own ego.

True to form, Harrison’s latest opus is loaded with happy-clappy corporate bluster and assorted bs assertions but it lacks any credible justification for the introduction of such measures and, as usual, it leaves so many valid questions that any reasonable person would want answering wholly unanswered.

Harrison is doing her utmost to increase her company’s profits with this move, by attempting to grab ever increasing amounts of public money naturally, so let’s have the details Harrison.

    1. Do you have a professional qualification in Social Work and are you a registered person as defined by The Policy for the Protection of Children & Vulnerable Adults ? Do you have a current CRB disclosure document ?

    2. Does anyone employed your company have a professional qualification in Social Work and is anyone employed by your company a registered person as defined by The Policy for the Protection of Children & Vulnerable Adults ? Do all of your employees have current CRB disclosure documents ?

    3. How many of your employees or those working in association with or on behalf of your company have been convicted of a criminal offence ?

    4. How many of the above mentioned group have addictions to alcohol, drugs or any other substances ?

    5. How may people mentioned in paragraph 3 have been dismissed from or resigned from previous employment due to bullying, threatened or actual violence, dishonesty of any kind, racial discrimination, sexual discrimination, or any other forms of discrimination, anti social behaviour or any other forms of misconduct ?

    6. How do you propose to identify the families you wish to include in the programme ? Will obtaining the names and addresses of these families necessarily involve breaches of The Data Protection Act ?

    7. Will you be instructing your employees or anyone mentioned in paragraph 3 to cold call in any areas in order to promote the proposed scheme to potential participants ?

    8. Does your company provide employees who will carry out these instructions with free dental treatment ?

    9. Do you think it is feasible for the government to allocate substantial amounts of Parliamentary time to draft, discuss and pass legislation which makes participation on the proposed programme mandatory for certain families ?

Harrison and her cohorts are after the huge revenues and equally huge profits that flow from providing public services so they should be open, honest and accountable to the people who use and actually pay for these services.

  4. All this “initiative” will amount to is threatening “whole families” with destitution if mummy/daddy does not toe the A4e line. What sort of person would willingly throw people onto the street and leave them to freeze and starve to death effectively MURDERING them – all in the pursuit of private profit. Utterly, utterly evil!

  5. Workey, I think you will find that the bit about tackling the economic and banking crisis was not in the original.

The rest though is entirely taken from her various Blog posts and added into her Blog on becoming a family champ.

  6. Do you not find it even remotely an insult how the middle-class are destroying working class families by cutting billions in welfare and public services etc. to be compensated by an alternative to a “marriage tax break” (yes, Cameron didn’t get his way with this recognition of married couples) by, wait for it, a mere £7.5 million budget to help families.

For any readers who are still living in the 1940s and see £7.5 million as a nice tidy rich happy ever after sum.. the dynamics of just a single million quid is much different these days. It is lovely to have but wont stretch very far.

As for £7.5 million “extra” pledged… surely its like a spoilt kid asking for a bike, latest game console or a drum kit… but this year instead of the kid getting what s/he wants; the sole present is a Fudge bar or Freddo.

You might be thinking….. hold on, the chocolate bars can be eaten, and will, so wont last, but the normal presents will… so is a poor comparison… You are wrong. For example welfare, might not be much, but it helps families get from week to week even at a struggle. £7.5 million will be gone just like that.

It also assumes that working class families have “issues”, which many naturally will have like all families, ignoring the financial problems… It is likely the £7.5 million is the safety net, as Cameron fully understand that charities like Relate will be stretched under the spending cuts.

  8. Let them pick fruit: Tory councillor says unemployed Northerners should pick fruit rather than claim benefits

Unemployed Northerners should replace Eastern European immigrants and ‘pick cherries on fruit farms’ instead of living on benefits, a senior Conservative council chief has suggested.

David Shakespeare, leader of Buckinghamshire County Council and head of the Conservative group in the Local Government Association, said people from poorer parts of the country affected by the rising joblessness and public sector cuts should go to work in orchards.

Mr Shakespeare made his ‘let them pick fruit’ comment during a LGA debate about the prospect of councils being allowed to keep the business rates they collect rather than being redistributed to poorer areas.

‘The North may replace the Romanians in the cherry orchards,’ he said.

‘That may be a good thing.’

His remarks were immediately seized on by Labour, who likened them to Norman Tebbit’s infamous advice to the unemployed in the 1980s to ‘get on your bike’.

Tom Blenkinsop, Labour MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, said the remark undermined David Cameron’s claim to be a ‘one nation’ leader by portraying Northerners as second-class citizens.

‘These types of comment prove [David] Cameron hasn’t reformed his party one bit. To see northerners in this second class, undermining and disrespectful way is typical for a very southern-orientated political party like the Conservatives. The Tory Party certainly can’t claim to be the party of one nation,’ he said.

Michael Dugher, Labour MP for Bansley East, has now written to Mr Cameron asking if he will condemn the comments.

‘Do you appreciate how out of touch, insensitive and insulting these comments are? Doesn’t it just demonstrate that the Tories are still the same old nasty party?” he said.

And even Conservate colleagues condemned Mr Shakespeare’s comments. Dame Margaret Eaton, chairman of the LGA, immediately reprimanded Mr Shakespeare and called his comments ‘horrible’.

Rob Light, leader of the Conservative group on Kirklees Metropolitan Council and an ally of Mr Shakespeare’s on the LGA Executive, distanced himself from his colleague.

‘I’m assured it’s the view of an individual and not of Conservatives in local government. It’s certainly not the view of Conservatives in local government in the North,’ he said.

Mr Dugher said Mr Shakespeare – one of the most senior Conservative figures in local politics – should resign. A Conservative Party spokesman said there would be no disiplinary action, but added:’This is an unacceptable use of language and does not represent the views of the Conservative Party.’

The budget cuts are likely to hit the North far harder than the South, with many northern areas reliant on the the public sector for their jobs.

In October, a report by the Institute for Public Policy Research found the north-east would lose 4.1 per cent of its jobs over the next four years, compared with 3.1 per cent in London and the south-east.

  9. Many people would like to do this kind of seasonal work – if it was easy to sign off and sign back on, and if it was properly paid.

In fact I have done it in my mispent youth.

The whole thing is wrongly posed here.

It’s easier for the companies to get people from far away that can be got rid of easily and don’t complain about working conditions and money.

That’s why they don’t actually want locals (unless they’re say, part-time people doing it as a bit of extra cash) or, in this instance, Northerners who’d want proper accommodation and money.

  10. i am afraid not everyone shares in her optimism, quite the opposite those that have attended her establishments have left with different views, she is making vast sums of money out of the government and delivering little.

people in a position of wealth often become aloof and comments such as the above become the typically norm, anyone taken in by these statements is being seriously misled into believing any of it.

on one hand she states the unemployed are making a “profession” of being unemployed and on the other those that are placed under her organisations spell live happily ever after.
these are the vulnerable people she is making money from then seeking to exploit this for her own perceived image purposes.

  13. She came from Greece she had a thirst for knowledge,
she studied sculpture at Saint Martin’s College,
    that’s where I,
    caught her eye.
She told me that her Dad was loaded,
I said “In that case I’ll have a rum and coca-cola.”
    She said “Fine.”
and in thirty seconds time she said,

“I want to live like common people,
I want to do whatever common people do,
I want to sleep with common people,
I want to sleep with common people,
    like you.”

Well what else could I do –
I said “I’ll see what I can do.”
I took her to a supermarket,
I don’t know why but I had to start it somewhere,
    so it started there.
I said pretend you’ve got no money,
    she just laughed and said,
    “Oh you’re so funny.”
    I said “yeah?
Well I can’t see anyone else smiling in here.
Are you sure you want to live like common people,
you want to see whatever common people see,
you want to sleep with common people,
you want to sleep with common people,
    like me.”
    But she didn’t understand,
she just smiled and held my hand.
Rent a flat above a shop,
cut your hair and get a job.
Smoke some fags and play some pool,
pretend you never went to school.
But still you’ll never get it right,
cos when you’re laid in bed at night,
    watching roaches climb the wall,
if you call your Dad he could stop it all.

You’ll never live like common people,
you’ll never do what common people do,
you’ll never fail like common people,
you’ll never watch your life slide out of view,
and dance and drink and screw,
because there’s nothing else to do.

Sing along with the common people,
sing along and it might just get you through,
laugh along with the common people,
laugh along even though they’re laughing at you,
and the stupid things that you do.
Because you think that poor is cool.

I want to live with common people,
I want to live with common people etc…
