YMCA Training data disclosure: take action!

Filed under: DWP, Ipswich, New Deal, Suffolk, Unemployment, YMCA — Tags: , , , , , — Flexible New Deal @ 11:04 am

What can I do about YMCA Training breaching the Data Protection Act 1998?

Read on for advice regarding resolving the unlawful disclosure of your personal details.

QDP Services

If you have been on a New Deal course within the last year with YMCA Training, you may wish to:

  1. Write a letter of complaint to QDP Services. If you have received the survey, whether or not you have posted it off, you may wish to complain. If you haven’t sent the survey back, use their freepost envelope. Otherwise, send the complaint to their Registered Office. You will have to pay for a stamp.

    Or

  2. Write a Subject Access Request to QDP Services. If you didn’t receive a survey and you were a YMCA Training New Deal participant, you should do a Subject Access Request to QDP Services, to see whether they had received any of your details.

YMCA Training

You may wish to write to YMCA Training – considering they were the ones who kept it and disclosed it without your permission. I recommend you write to the CEO at YMCA Training Ltd to complain. I would also advise you to do a Subject Access Request in the same letter to see whether they still hold details on you.

Jobcentre Plus

You may wish to complain to Jobcentre Plus who were the ones who initially gave YMCA Training your details.

Information Commissioner’s Office (recommended!)

You may wish to make an official complaint against YMCA Training. ICO has a helpline (or two! lol): 08456 306060 or 01625 545745 for advice to help you to solve the problem. Their web address is: http://www.ico.gov.uk or http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints/data_protection.aspx for more specific info.
